Dopo la scorpacciata di annotazioni rilasciate meno di due settimane fa, di cui vi avevamo parlato nel nostro articolo, Eminem è ritornato attivo sul web rilasciando una nuova “tornata” di annotazioni sul sito Genius.com.
Questa volta sembra che il rapper abbia aperto la pagina relativa all'album “The Marshall Mathers LP” del 2000 e ci abbia voluto deliziare con tanti piccoli dettagli relativi alle canzoni Stan, The Real Slim Shady, The Way I Am, Criminal e Marshall Mathers.
Qui di seguito vi riportiamo la traduzione dei punti salienti, a partire dal più interessante, ovvero la nota rilasciata a corredo della terza strofa di Stan:

“When we recorded Stan I worked with a couple different engineers but this particular engineer I had never worked with before. While we were recording the third verse of Stan, he started rolling a joint and asked me if I minded if he smoked while we cut. What was I gonna do? Say no? He was already rolling it so I told him “no problem”. Everything was cool and I had gotten all the way to the last 3 lines and I screwed up so all he had to do was punch in my vocals at the end so I could re-do that line and the verse was finished. Back then we were recording on 2 inch tape, so once you recorded over something it’s gone forever. So I’m in the booth waiting and he backs the tape up all the way to the beginning of the verse and punches me in. I realize he’s in the wrong spot and I can’t hear any of my vocals so I start waving my arms and yelling in the mic to try to get his attention. He doesn’t notice so I run into the control room through a cloud of smoke and yell “Yo, I wanted to keep those vocals” he just looked at me and said “My bad man…you wanna hit this?”
The first half of the verse was GONE. I re-recorded it but you should have heard the original take that shit was WAY better…oh well!”
“Quando abbiamo registrato Stan ho lavorato con una coppia differente di ingegneri, ma [con] un ingegnere in particolare non avevo mai lavorato prima d'ora. Mentre stavamo registrando la terza strofa di Stan, ha iniziato a rollarsi una canna e mi ha chiesto se mi desse fastidio che fumasse mentre incidevamo. Cosa avrei dovuto fare? Dirgli di no? La stava già rollando, quindi gli dissi “Nessun problema”.
Tutto andava bene ed ero arrivato agli ultimi 3 versi e [lì] ho sbagliato, così tutto quello che avrebbe dovuto fare era registrare le mie vocals fino alla fine, cosicché io [potessi] rifare quel verso e finire la strofa. A quell'epoca stavamo registrando sui nastri da due pollici, quindi una volta che ci avevi registrato qualcosa era fatto per sempre. Quindi sono nella cabina ad aspettare e lui rimanda indietro il nastro all'inizio della strofa e mi fa ripartire da lì. Realizzo che lui era nel punto sbagliato e non riesco a sentire nessuna delle mie vocals, quindi inizio a muovere le braccia ed urlo nel microfono per cercare di attirare la sua attenzione. Lui non riesce ad accorgersene ed io corro nella sala di controllo attraverso una nuvola di fumo e urlo “Yo, voglio tenere queste vocals”. Lui mi guarda e mi dice “Colpa mia amico…Vuoi farti un tiro?
La prima metà della strofa era ANDATA. L'ho re-registrata, ma avreste dovuto sentire la prima registrazione. Quella roba era MOLTO meglio….pazienza!”
